- ਸ਼ਸ਼ਾ - Sassaverindyshaa - Shashaa - Paer-bindi form of the fourth letter of the Gurmukhi alphabet.

Name: shashaa
Shape:
Spelling: ਸ਼ਸ਼ਾ
Sound: 'sh' as the 'sh' in 'shower'.
Type: Consonant

Mouth: hold your mouth in exactly the same way that you would if you were saying the 'sh' in the word 'shower'.
Tongue: Curved so that the front of your tongue (not the tip) touches the back of your tooth ridge.
Soft Palette: blocking nose
Lips: apart
Vocal Chords: Used
Aspirated: no

Confusion: ਸ ਮ ਅ Remember the paer bindi - ਸ ਸ਼
Reading: When you first start, there is a fair chance that you might confuse ਸ with ਮ and ਅ. Remember the bar across the top in the case of ਸ.
Writing: The same confusion as with reading. You'll need to take a bit of care with this one - don't get into the habit of writing a series of letters and then writing a line across the top of them all - do the letters, one at a time and this will pay off when you don't turn a ਮ into a ਸ.
