- ਵਾਵਾ - Vaavaa - thirty-fourth letter of the Gurmukhi alphabet.

Name: Vaavaa
Shape:
Spelling: ਵਾਵਾ
Sound: cross between a 'v' (as in 'volume') and a 'w' (as in 'wall') when you say it out aloud.
Type: Consonant

Mouth: Make a 'p'/'b' shape with your mouth. Note that you are using your lips for the opening, not your top lip against your lower teeth.
The opening your mouth should make is a flattened one, not the pursed lip shape normally used with the English 'W'
Tongue: Kept out of the way.
Soft Palette: Blocking your nose
Lips: open
Vocal Chords: Used
Aspirated: No

Confusion: ਞ ਵ ਟ
Reading: NYanYaa ('ਞ') be confused with Vavaa ('ਵ') when you start out but this soon goes (NYanYaa ('ਞ') is quite rare).
Writing: NYanYaa ('ਞ') be confused with Vavaa ('ਵ') when you start out but all you have to do is remember not to put in that extra dash (ਞ ਵ).

With Vavaa and Taenka (ਵ ਟ), remember that you need two curves.
