ਏ This is eerdee with a laanv. Note that, like aunkard and dulaenkarday, when you see it printed, it has quite a curve which is easy to see in the animation on the right.
ਕੇ When writing, keep it straight. Again, a straight line is quicker and easier to draw. If you start on the left and you are right-handed, you are pulling the pen towards you which makes controlling the pressure and length easier than if you were drawing it the other way. You might find that you prefer to draw it from the other end but whichever way you choose, consistency makes for quicker writing.

This one is quite difficult to define. You can see from our spectrum on the right that it is roughly 'ay' but it has a static sound so, unlike 'ay', it doesn't produce a continuous change from 'eh' to 'ee' (like 'sail'). This is slightly higher up the spectrum than 'ae' (like the 'ae' in 'aeroplane' [English]) which is well defined. |
